About Us
A Coffee Shop with a Mission
Our shop employs and develops youth aging out of foster care.
On May 17th, 2018, our program began to encourage these young adults to become empowered and independent by providing & teaching basic needs.
Mental wellness, financial literacy, housing, transportation, and career skills.
How it Started
Emily Schmidt
Founder & Director of Missions
At a young age, Emily Schmidt desired to open a coffee shop. This dream remained as she grew, got married, and had 3 children. She began pursuing coffee shop ownership while she and her husband considered adoption. It shocked her that so many youth are aging out of foster care without a permanent family or a plan for the future.
After praying, planning, and waiting on the Lord, the Cracked Pot Coffee Shop was born! Emily opened a faith-based, non-profit coffee shop in her hometown that partners with foster youth aging out of the system.

Amy has an AA in Practical Ministry and a BSW in Social Work. Amy is passionate about young people and believes the most incredible ministry "happens" when God's people take risks and are willing to step into the darkest of places to pursue the most despised and rejected. Amy lives in Carlisle with her husband Bill and two dogs, Charlie and Layla. She is a proud mom of two and Grammie to five. Amy is new to the board and feels honored to be a part of such an amazing community of people.
